The land cover and land use maps of MapBiomas Ecuador are based on the thematic classification of satellite mosaics generated from the Landsat sensors. Annual mosaics (composites) have been created for each year (1985-2023). Each mosaic is produced by the spatial integration of different Landsat images that cover the country and by a pixel-by-pixel temporal integration.

Each annual mosaic contains 151 bands which include: Landsat spectral bands, spectral indexes, spectral fractions obtained from a spectral unmixing model and fractional indexes. Topographic and elevation information was also used. For more information, see item 3.1 of the ATBD General.

You can access the mosaics from Collection 2.0 directly in Google Earth Engine through through the public collection repositories (assets Ids):
